About Veterans Park in Concord
Vietnam Veterans Park, formerly known as North Cabarrus Park, is a 90-acre recreational area located in the southern part of Kannapolis, North Carolina. The park opened in 2002 as a joint effort between Cabarrus County, the City of Kannapolis, and the Church of God Children's Home. It is currently operated by Cabarrus County.
The park offers a serene environment for visitors, featuring a mix of natural and developed areas. A 1.2-mile walking trail winds through the park, providing opportunities for exercise and nature observation. The park also includes a wetlands trail and a boardwalk, allowing visitors to explore diverse ecosystems.
For sports enthusiasts, the park offers various facilities including basketball courts, a volleyball court, and a 9-hole disc golf course. Families with children can enjoy the playgrounds, while those looking for more relaxed activities can use the picnic shelters, picnic sites, and free-standing bench swings.
The park is open to the public seven days a week from dawn to dusk. It provides a peaceful retreat for local residents and visitors alike, offering a balance of recreational activities and natural spaces for enjoyment throughout the year.
