Lions Park is a large community park located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Spanning 41.4 acres, it is one of the largest metro parks in the City of Raleigh. The park was established in 1961 and is situated near Saint Augustine's University and downtown Raleigh.
The park features two playgrounds with rubber surfaces, catering to different age groups. The 5-12 age group playground is particularly notable for its size, offering multiple levels of play with several slides, climbing structures, monkey bars, tethered rope swings, and bucket chairs for spinning. The 2-5 age group playground includes a climbing wall, slides, twisty toys, a seesaw, tot swings, and bongos.
Lions Park is home to a variety of sports facilities. It boasts four baseball fields, two full-size basketball courts (both indoor and outdoor), eight tennis courts, and a unique dirt BMX track. The park also includes a community center, which serves as a hub for various activities and programs.
For those seeking relaxation or social gatherings, the park offers a large pavilion available for rental, as well as picnic areas. While some of the older amenities like the picnic spots and pavilion have shown signs of age, they still provide functional spaces for visitors.
