About Cascade Valley Overlook Area in Akron

Cascade Valley Metro Park is a 526-acre park located in central Summit County between Akron and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The Overlook Area is a section of the park that offers spectacular views of the Cuyahoga River valley from 125 feet above.

The centerpiece of the Overlook Area is the Overlook Trail, a flat 0.5-mile loop trail that is paved and ADA accessible. This easy trail leads to the Overlook Deck, which provides panoramic vistas of the river oxbow and surrounding landscape below. The dramatic views from this vantage point have led some to call it the "Grand Canyon of Ohio."

In addition to the Overlook Trail, visitors can access other hiking trails from this area that explore more of Cascade Valley Metro Park. The trails wind through forests, meadows, and along the Cuyahoga River, offering opportunities to observe local wildlife and plant species.

The Overlook Area serves as a gateway to experience the natural beauty and ecology of the Cuyahoga River Valley. Its accessible trail and stunning viewpoint make it a popular spot for casual walks, photography, birdwatching, and simply enjoying the scenery of this preserved green space in the heart of urban Northeast Ohio.
