About Ziegler Park in Cincinnati

Ziegler Park is a 4.5-acre green space located between the neighborhoods of Over-the-Rhine and Pendleton in Cincinnati, Ohio. Named after Cincinnati's first mayor, David Ziegler, the park underwent a significant renovation and expansion in 2017, transforming it from a neglected 1.41-acre space into a vibrant community asset.

The park features both east and west sections, separated by Sycamore Street. Its renovation was a collaborative effort involving the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Recreation Commission, Cincinnati Park Board, and Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC). The project aimed to address years of disinvestment and create a welcoming space for the local community.

Ziegler Park offers a variety of recreational facilities and spaces for visitors of all ages. The centerpiece of the park is a deep-water pool, designed to accommodate swim lessons and competitive swimming events. The pool area is managed by SwimSafe, a company focused on maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer service.

In addition to the pool, the park boasts upgraded basketball courts, a children's playground, and open areas for relaxation and community gatherings. The park's design incorporates a game grove and a great lawn, providing versatile spaces for various activities and events.

The park is committed to inclusivity through its "Everybody In" program, which aims to make the pool and other amenities accessible to all community members, regardless of their ability to pay. This initiative includes affordable daily rates, season passes, and free programs primarily geared towards neighborhood youth.

In 2023, Ziegler Park underwent further expansion, extending the pedestrian-only park space onto Woodward Street and a portion of Yukon Street. This expansion added more gathering spaces, a synthetic turf area for outdoor games, and public art installations led by Black Art Speaks.
