Ottawa Park

Ottawa Park is the largest park in Toledo, Ohio, spanning approximately 370 acres. Established in the late 19th century, the park was designed following plans by the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, known for his work on New York's Central Park.

The park features a diverse landscape with wooded areas, open fields, and the Ottawa River running through it. It offers a mix of natural beauty and recreational facilities, making it a popular destination for Toledo residents and visitors alike.

One of the park's notable features is its historic 18-hole golf course, established in 1899. This course holds the distinction of being the first public golf course west of New York City. The park also includes a 6.4-mile mountain bike trail, providing challenging terrain for cycling enthusiasts.

In addition to its natural and recreational offerings, Ottawa Park houses several structures of historical significance. Some of these buildings were constructed during the Works Progress Administration (WPA) era in the 1930s, adding to the park's cultural and architectural value.

Throughout the year, Ottawa Park hosts various events and activities, including summer concerts at its amphitheater and winter skating at its outdoor ice rink, which is the only open-air ice rink in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
