About Guthrie Green in Tulsa
Guthrie Green is an urban park and community gathering space located in the heart of the Tulsa Arts District in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. Opened in 2012, the park spans 2.6 acres on what was formerly an industrial site and freight yard.
The park features a large central lawn area surrounded by walking paths and gardens. A covered outdoor stage and pavilion anchors one end of the park, providing space for concerts, performances and events. Interactive fountains and water features offer a place for visitors to cool off.
Guthrie Green was designed with sustainability in mind. The park utilizes LED lighting throughout to reduce energy usage. A geothermal system below the lawn helps heat and cool neighboring buildings. Solar panels on the pavilion contribute power to park operations. Bioswales and other features help manage stormwater runoff.
The park hosts a variety of free community events and activities throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, fitness classes, and movie screenings. Food trucks often set up at the park during events. Even when no events are scheduled, the green space provides a place for picnics, relaxation and recreation in the downtown area.
Guthrie Green is open daily to the public from 6am to 11pm. The park is privately owned and operated by a non-profit organization, but aims to serve as a welcoming community space for all. Its central location in the Arts District puts it within walking distance of museums, restaurants, and other attractions.
