About Veterans Park in Tulsa
Centennial Center in Veterans Park is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The park, formerly known as Boulder Park, consists of over 15 acres straddling 18th and Boulder Avenue. It was rededicated as Veterans Park in 1990 to serve as a tribute to all Tulsa County veterans.
The park features landscaped scenery and water features, offering spectacular views of the downtown Tulsa skyline. Visitors can enjoy picturesque landscape from the deck area near the pond or benches situated along the winding walkway. Fountains and streams add to the thriving greenery and blossoming flowers, creating a scenic urban oasis.
Veterans Park contains several individual memorials commemorating the service of Tulsa County veterans. The original memorial, erected in 1944, honors those who served in World War II. A permanent memorial dedicated in 1954 stands in a small grove of trees, honoring citizens of Tulsa County who gave their lives in defense of the country. Additional memorials include a commemorative obelisk added in 1985, a memorial for veterans of the Spanish-American War, and a Freedom Tree dedicated to POW/MIA/KIA and all who served in Southeast Asia.
The Centennial Center building, located within Veterans Park, now houses the Tulsa Parks administrative offices. While no longer available for private rentals, the center may host some community events that meet certain requirements, as schedules allow.
The park is open daily from 5 AM to 11 PM, providing ample opportunity for visitors to enjoy its amenities and peaceful atmosphere. It serves as both a place of remembrance for veterans and a tranquil retreat for Tulsa residents and visitors alike.
