About Monroe City Park in Eugene

Monroe Park is a 2.58 acre neighborhood park located in the Jefferson/Westside neighborhood of Eugene, Oregon, at the intersection of Broadway and Monroe streets. The park was formerly the site of Lincoln Elementary School before becoming a city park in 1961.

Monroe Park features rolling hills, public art installations, a play area, and picnic areas. It has undergone several renovations and development projects over the years, including in 1977, 1984, and most recently in 2005.

The park serves as an important green space and recreational area for the surrounding residential neighborhood just west of downtown Eugene. Its stately trees and open grassy areas provide a peaceful retreat in an urban setting. The playground equipment and basketball court offer recreational opportunities for children and families.

Monroe Park hosts community events and performances on occasion, utilizing its small stage area. Local volunteer groups like Friends of Monroe Park help maintain the park through regular cleanups and improvement projects.
