Moon Mountain

Moon Mountain City Park is an undeveloped natural area located in Eugene, Oregon's Ridgeline Park system. Spanning approximately 40.3 acres, the park is situated north of Coryell Ridge Park and south of Henderson Avenue.

Moon Mountain features diverse ecosystems, including wildflower-filled upland prairies, oak woodlands, and conifer forests. Visitors to the park can enjoy scenic views of the confluence of the middle and coast forks of the Willamette River, Mount Pisgah, Coryell Ridge, the Laurel Hill Valley, and Spencer Butte.

As an undeveloped area, Moon Mountain City Park currently lacks formal trails and designated parking. The park is primarily accessed via an unimproved logging road. The City of Eugene acquired this land as part of its efforts to create an uninterrupted trail and habitat system across the Ridgeline Park system, stretching from Fern Ridge Reservoir in the west to Mount Pisgah in the east.

In July 2023, Moon Mountain Park experienced a wildfire that burned 34.4 acres, primarily affecting the upland prairie areas. The park has since reopened, and the affected areas are expected to recover naturally.

Visitors should be aware that as an undeveloped park, Moon Mountain may present natural hazards such as ticks, poison oak, and uneven terrain. The park is open for daytime use only, and visitors are advised to respect park rules, private property boundaries, and any posted signage.
