About Vance Park in Portland

Vance Park is a 14.5-acre public park located in the Rockwood Neighborhood of Gresham, Oregon, near Portland. Established in 1974, this forested park is owned by Multnomah County but maintained and operated by the City of Gresham.

The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities for visitors. It features walking paths that wind through the wooded areas, providing a peaceful setting for nature enthusiasts. The park also includes open lawn areas suitable for picnicking and casual outdoor activities.

Vance Park has undergone recent improvements to enhance its facilities. In 2015, a pair of new futsal courts, known as the SNAKE Court, were installed in the park. This addition was part of an initiative to support local youth programs and encourage children to lead active lifestyles.

For disc golf enthusiasts, Vance Park offers a 9-hole course that was established in 2007. The course is relatively flat and features holes that are under 300 feet in length, making it suitable for players of various skill levels.

The park is part of a larger county-owned property that includes adjacent sites of a former landfill and quarry. As of 2022, there are ongoing plans to renovate and expand the park area, with goals to remediate the environmental impact of past uses and provide more green space to the community.
