Holman Park

Holman Pocket Park is a small urban green space located in the Crown Hill neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Situated at the intersection of NE Holman Street and 13th Avenue NW, this compact park serves as a valuable community asset in an area previously lacking in accessible green spaces.

The park was developed as part of Portland's efforts to increase park access within a half-mile of every household in the city. It was created through a collaboration between various city departments, including the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, Portland Parks & Recreation, Portland Bureau of Transportation, and Portland Water Bureau.

Holman Pocket Park incorporates several features designed to benefit both the local community and the environment. The park helps control flooding and filter pollutants from stormwater runoff, addressing urban water management challenges. Catchment areas were included in the park's design to improve drainage and reduce the burden on the city's stormwater infrastructure.

In addition to its environmental functions, the park was designed with community needs in mind. Local residents were involved in the design process, resulting in the inclusion of more seating areas and an informational kiosk. The park also incorporates pedestrian and bicycle safety features, enhancing accessibility and promoting active transportation in the neighborhood.
