About William H. Laubach Memorial Park in Allentown
Laubach Park, officially known as William H. Laubach Memorial Park, is a public recreation area located in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The park spans approximately 14.4 acres and is situated along Lehigh Avenue in Allentown.
The park features a diverse range of natural and recreational elements. A notable feature is a small spring-fed pond in the northwest corner, which forms the headwaters of Trout Creek, a tributary to the Little Lehigh Creek. The Department of Environmental Protection has classified the waters of Trout Creek as a High Quality Cold Water Fishery (HQ-CWF). The vegetation around the pond includes native hardwoods such as hickory and oak, along with some invasive species in the understory and edges.
Laubach Park is bordered by residential areas to the east, west, and south, with Fairview Road to the west and Lehigh Avenue to the north. The park's location places it in close proximity to several educational institutions, including Salisbury Township High School (1.5 miles away) and Harry S. Truman Elementary School (less than half a mile away).
In recent years, there have been discussions and plans for significant improvements to Laubach Park. A Master Site Development Plan was adopted in January 2017, outlining potential upgrades and enhancements to the park's facilities and infrastructure. As of 2025, township officials have been considering applying for grants to fund a comprehensive refurbishment project, with estimated costs ranging from $6.2 million to $6.6 million.
