Franko Park, located in Salisbury Township near Allentown, Pennsylvania, is a spacious recreational area spanning approximately 94 acres. The park sits atop a relatively level portion of the South Mountain ridgeline, offering visitors expansive views of the surrounding landscape.
Originally purchased in 1993 as a passive park, Franko Park has since evolved to include both active and passive recreational facilities. The park features a spring-fed pond with a self-regulating water level, surrounded by a 10-foot wide native grass riparian buffer. This aquatic feature adds to the park's natural beauty and serves as a focal point for visitors.
The park's terrain includes wooded steep slopes in the northwest corner, encompassing about 13 acres of mature hardwood forest. Grass-lined paths follow the edge of these woods, providing opportunities for nature walks and wildlife observation. From certain vantage points, particularly near the parking lot by the existing farmhouse and community garden, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the City of Allentown.
