Dilworth Park

Dilworth Park is a public space located in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, situated on the west side of City Hall. The park opened in September 2014 after a $55 million renovation of the former Dilworth Plaza.

Spanning approximately half an acre, Dilworth Park serves as a vibrant gathering place for residents, workers, and visitors in Center City Philadelphia. The park's design, created by KieranTimberlake, Urban Engineers, and OLIN, features a mix of green spaces and hardscaped areas that accommodate various activities and events throughout the year.

One of the park's central features is a large interactive fountain that operates during warmer months. In winter, this area transforms into an ice skating rink, providing seasonal entertainment. The park also includes a lawn area for relaxation and picnicking, as well as tree groves that offer shade and seating.

Dilworth Park serves as an important transit hub, with improved connections to the city's subway, regional rail, and trolley lines. Two glass pavilions house stairs and elevators leading to the underground concourse, enhancing accessibility while allowing natural light to penetrate below ground.

Throughout the year, the park hosts a variety of programming, including concerts, movie screenings, and seasonal markets. A café within the park offers refreshments to visitors. The Center City District manages and maintains the park, ensuring its upkeep and security.

The park's design aims to create a more welcoming and accessible public space compared to its predecessor, with an emphasis on accommodating diverse users and activities in the bustling downtown area.
