Whipper Barony Park

Whipper Barony Park is a public green space located in North Charleston, South Carolina. This park serves as a recreational area for the local community.

The park gets its name from the fact that it was once part of a proprietary era barony land grant. In the 1940s, the area was subdivided as the Whipper Barony neighborhood, with the park being included in the subdivision plan. This makes Whipper Barony Park one of the oldest parks in North Charleston.

Surrounded by 1940s cottages and bungalows built during the World War II construction boom near the Navy Base, Whipper Barony Park provides a spacious playground area shaded by a canopy of trees. The park also features a field that serves multiple purposes, functioning as both a dog park and a sports pitch.

The park includes a community center building, which is often used for hosting barbecues and various outdoor family and community events. This facility enhances the park's role as a gathering place for local residents.
