West Austin Neighborhood Park

West Austin Neighborhood Park is a compact urban green space located in the Old West Austin neighborhood of Austin, Texas. This 3.27-acre park offers a variety of recreational facilities for local residents and visitors.

The park features a circular swimming pool, which operates during portions of June, July, and August. The pool is particularly suitable for younger children and families, with a depth of less than 4 feet throughout. A lifeguard is on duty during operational hours, and restroom facilities are available in the historic 1930s Tudor-style bathhouse adjacent to the pool.

One of the park's notable features is its fenced off-leash dog area, which is popular among local pet owners. The park also includes a playground with equipment suitable for younger children, providing a safe space for play and physical activity.

For sports enthusiasts, the park offers a basketball hoop for casual games. There are also swing sets and picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy outdoor meals.

The Friends of West Austin Park, a non-profit organization comprised of neighborhood volunteers, works in cooperation with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department to maintain and improve the park's facilities. Recent plans have been made to develop an area known as the Overlook, which aims to create a peaceful, adult-centric space in the park's northwest corner, potentially offering views of the Austin skyline.
