Malone Park

Zurrie Malone Park is a small neighborhood park located in the Third Ward area of Houston, Texas. The park serves as a valuable green space for the local community. In 2021, the park underwent significant renovations as part of Mayor Sylvester Turner's Complete Communities initiative, which aimed to improve parks in under-resourced Houston neighborhoods.

The renovations included several upgrades to enhance the park's functionality and appeal. New playground equipment was installed, providing children with a safe and modern area for play. The basketball court received attention with new roofing and an improved surface, making it more suitable for recreational use. Additional improvements included new park furnishings, a pergola for shade, updated fencing, and fresh landscaping to beautify the grounds.

As part of the renovation project, local artist Israel McCloud contributed public art to the park, adding a unique cultural element to the space. This addition aligns with the Third Ward's reputation as a culturally rich area and contributes to the neighborhood's artistic character.

Zurrie Malone Park, while modest in size at 0.69 acres, plays an important role in the community.
