About Alexander Deussen Park in Houston
Alexander Deussen Park is a 309-acre public park located on the southwestern shore of Lake Houston in Harris County, Texas. The park was established in 1956 when local petroleum geologist Alexander Deussen donated the land to Harris County.
The park offers visitors a diverse range of recreational opportunities and natural beauty. It features extensive frontage along Lake Houston, providing access for boating and fishing enthusiasts. Several boat ramps and a renovated T-Pier allow for easy boat launching and docking.
Walking and jogging trails wind through the park, offering scenic views of the lake and surrounding landscape. The park contains multiple playgrounds spread throughout its grounds, catering to families with children of various ages.
For gatherings and events, Alexander Deussen Park provides 14 pavilions of different sizes, equipped with BBQ grills and picnic tables. These spaces are available for reservation through the Harris County Precinct One Community Portal.
The park also houses an active Senior Center on-site, offering programs and facilities for older adults in the community. Nature lovers can explore four trailheads that lead to beautiful walking and jogging paths.
Alexander Deussen Park is open year-round, with seasonal hour changes. During summer months (March to October), the park is open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, while winter hours (November to February) are from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
