About Chandler River Park in Tyler
Chandler River Park is located on the banks of the Neches River in eastern Henderson County, Texas, approximately 1 mile east of the city of Chandler at the Highway 31 bridge crossing. The park serves as a day-use area for various outdoor activities and provides public access to the Neches River.
The park offers 2,650 feet of river frontage to the north and 3,000 feet to the south, providing ample space for bank fishing. It is particularly popular during the spring white bass run from February to April, attracting anglers from all over East Texas. During summer months, blue and channel catfish provide excellent fishing opportunities, while largemouth bass and sunfish can be caught year-round.
Chandler River Park is also the starting point for the Chandler Upper Neches Paddling Trail, which opened in spring 2016. This paddling trail offers a loop of 1-8 miles, depending on water levels and the chosen turnaround point. The trail can typically be completed in 1-4 hours, offering paddlers a chance to explore the river's quiet pools and small forks.
The park features a 100-vehicle paved parking lot on the north side of Highway 31, with dedicated ingress and egress lanes. On the south side of the highway, there is a boat ramp and additional parking for 10 vehicles with trailers. These facilities make the park easily accessible for both day visitors and those looking to launch watercraft.
Chandler River Park is open year-round during daylight hours, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. However, overnight camping and fires are not permitted in the park.
