About Three Creeks Confluence in Salt Lake City
Three Creeks Confluence Park is a new urban open space located in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the intersection of South and West streets. The park marks the point where three major tributaries - Red Butte Creek, Emigration Creek, and Parleys Creek - join the Jordan River.
Completed in 2021, the park transformed a previously paved-over dead end into a restored natural area and community gathering space. The project involved daylighting the creek confluences, which had been enclosed in concrete culverts for decades. Now visitors can see where the three creeks flow together before entering the Jordan River.
The one-acre park features restored riparian habitat with native plants and trees. Two new pedestrian bridges were installed to provide access across the water. The park includes a fishing pier, community plaza, and educational signage about the local watershed. A unique element is the pedestrian bridge adorned with public art pieces selected from over 160 submissions.
Three Creeks Confluence Park aims to provide an accessible recreational space for the Glendale community while highlighting Salt Lake City's often overlooked urban streams. The park offers opportunities for environmental education, community gatherings, and enjoying nature within the city.
