About Clermont Natural Park in Alexandria
Clermont Natural Park is a 5.15-acre forested natural area located in Alexandria, Virginia. The park serves as a natural easement adjoining the larger Clermont Swamp Forest to the east. This urban green space provides a small but important habitat for local wildlife and native plant species.
The park consists primarily of forested wetlands, though it has a history of being used as an unofficial city dump decades ago. As a result, it is somewhat smaller and less floristically diverse than the neighboring Clermont Swamp Forest. However, it still plays a vital role as a natural area connector and wildlife habitat, preserving remnants of bottomland forest vegetation.
Clermont Natural Park is open from sunrise to sunset daily, allowing visitors to explore its wooded areas and experience a slice of nature within the urban environment of Alexandria. The park's natural setting makes it suitable for activities like bird watching, nature observation, and short walks through the forested terrain.
