Gillies Creek Park is a 40-acre urban green space located in Richmond's East End at the intersection of Stony Run Drive and Williamsburg Road. Established in the early 1990s, this park serves as a recreational hub for several surrounding neighborhoods and is situated just minutes from downtown Richmond.
The park features a diverse range of facilities catering to various outdoor activities. Its most unique attraction is Richmond's only BMX race track, which serves as the home track for Richmond BMX, an affiliate of the National Bicycle League. This track draws BMX enthusiasts from across the region for regular races and events.
Disc golf aficionados frequent Gillies Creek Park for its 18-hole disc golf course, which offers a mix of open and wooded holes. The course provides a challenge for players of different skill levels and is known for its quick play and unique shot shapes.
In addition to BMX and disc golf, the park boasts several other recreational amenities. There are multiple sports fields suitable for activities such as baseball, soccer, and kickball. The park also features horseshoe pits that host regular games and tournaments.
