About Riverview Park in Renton
Riverview Park is an 11-acre public park located in Renton, Washington. Acquired in 1979 through Community Development Block Grant funds, it has become an integral part of the Cedar River Greenway System. The park offers visitors access to the Cedar River Trail and features open meadows for recreational activities.
Situated along the Cedar River, Riverview Park provides scenic views and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The park includes interpretive displays that describe the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe's historical use of the Cedar River, as well as information about the endangered Chinook and Sockeye salmon that spawn in the river below.
A notable feature of the park is its pedestrian bridge spanning the Cedar River. Originally built in the 1960s, the old bridge was replaced in 2014 with a modern single-span aluminum bridge featuring a light-penetrating grated surface. This bridge connects the parking lot to the main park area and provides an excellent vantage point for observing the river and its wildlife.
Riverview Park offers a tranquil environment for various outdoor activities, including walking, jogging, and picnicking. The park's location within the larger Cedar River Greenway, which encompasses over 550 acres of developed and undeveloped parks and open spaces, makes it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful retreat in Renton.
