About Fremont Peak Park in Seattle
Fremont Peak Park is a small but scenic public green space located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Situated on a west-facing bluff, this half-acre park offers visitors panoramic views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
Opened to the public in November 2007, Fremont Peak Park was created through a combination of private donations and public funding, including support from the Seattle Pro Parks Levy. The park's design incorporates both natural elements and artistic features, reflecting the eclectic character of the Fremont area.
The park features landscaped gardens with native plants, winding walking paths, and strategically placed seating areas that allow visitors to take in the sweeping vistas. One of the park's unique elements is an integrated art installation that marks the solstices and equinoxes, tying into Fremont's whimsical claim of being the "Center of the Universe."
Fremont Peak Park serves as a quiet retreat for locals and visitors alike, offering a space for contemplation, light exercise, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Its location just south of N. 45th Street makes it easily accessible while maintaining a sense of seclusion from the busier parts of the neighborhood.
The park's creation and ongoing maintenance have been supported by community efforts, particularly through the Friends of Fremont Peak Park, a volunteer organization dedicated to the park's stewardship and enhancement.
