About Terminal 18 Park in Seattle
Terminal 18 Park is a small public park located on Harbor Island in Seattle, Washington. The park offers visitors a unique vantage point to observe the bustling port operations of the nearby Terminal 18, one of the largest container terminals in the Pacific Northwest.
Situated along the shoreline, this 1.36-acre park provides 310 linear feet of waterfront access. Visitors can watch large cargo ships, barges, and tugboats navigate the waters of Elliott Bay. The park also offers views of the West Seattle Bridge and the surrounding industrial landscape of Harbor Island.
Terminal 18 Park features a paved path that runs the length of the park, lined with colorful tiles along a concrete planter. Several picnic tables are available, uniquely sheltered under metal tent-shaped structures fashioned from old shipping containers. These repurposed elements pay homage to the park's industrial surroundings.
The park serves as an interesting juxtaposition of natural space within a highly industrialized area. It provides workers and visitors a place for respite and observation amidst the constant activity of the working port. The park is open from dawn to dusk, offering opportunities for daytime visits to experience the contrast between the quiet park setting and the dynamic port environment.
