Demetral Field

Demetral Park is a 49.18-acre community park located on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin near East High School. The park features a variety of recreational facilities and open spaces for public use.

The park includes a reservable open-air shelter with restrooms, drinking water, and approximately 20 picnic tables in or near the shelter area. This makes it a popular spot for gatherings and events.

A notable feature of Demetral Park is its fenced-in dog exercise area, providing a dedicated space for dog owners to let their pets run off-leash. The park is also known for its softball and kickball facilities, with multiple lighted softball fields available.

For sports enthusiasts, the park offers basketball courts, volleyball courts, and multipurpose fields that can be used for various activities. A playground provides recreational opportunities for children.

It's worth noting that Demetral Park has an interesting history - it was formerly a sanitary landfill site that was converted into a recreational area. The park has been in use for recreational purposes for several decades now.

Alcohol is prohibited in the Demetral Park shelter and within a fifty-foot radius surrounding the shelter, except by permit with prior approval from the Parks Division. This policy helps maintain a family-friendly environment in the core area of the park.
