About Edward Klief Park in Madison
Edward Klief Park is a small urban park located in Madison, Wisconsin. Spanning 1.67 acres, this mini park provides recreational space for the local community. The park was originally established as the "Milton Street Playground" in 1936 when the City of Madison acquired the first parcels of land. Additional land was later purchased to expand the park.
On March 5, 1969, the playground was renamed in memory of Edward Klief (1882-1969), a long-time Madison resident who had advocated for the creation of this park. Klief served as an Alderman in the old 11th ward from 1935 to 1937 and was actively involved in local civic affairs.
Despite its compact size, Edward Klief Park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors. The park features both a basketball court and a volleyball court, providing opportunities for team sports and physical activity. There is also an open field area that can be used for various activities or casual play. For younger visitors, the park includes a playground, making it a family-friendly destination.
The park is open daily from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM, allowing residents to enjoy its amenities throughout the day. While the park does not have restroom facilities, it does offer drinking water for visitors' convenience.
