About Discovery Park in Gilbert
Discovery Park is a 48-acre park located in the Val Vista Lakes community of Gilbert, Arizona. The park opened in 2006 and features a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas for visitors to enjoy.
The park includes two fishing ponds that are stocked as part of the community fishing program. A network of multi-use trails winds through the park, providing opportunities for walking, jogging and biking. The park also contains open green spaces and fields that can be used for picnics, informal sports and other activities.
For sports enthusiasts, Discovery Park offers five multi-use fields, basketball courts, and sand volleyball pits. A small playground with climbing rocks and swings provides a play area for children. The park includes eight picnic ramadas that can be reserved for gatherings and events.
An interesting feature of Discovery Park is its butterfly garden. The park also has a "Learning Path" that aims to combine mental and physical activity for visitors. While not a large playground-focused park, Discovery Park emphasizes outdoor recreation and nature appreciation in an urban setting.
