About Campbell Park in Tempe
Campbell Park is a public recreational area located in the southwestern corner of Tempe, Arizona. This 8-acre park was dedicated in November 1994, becoming the 43rd park in the City of Tempe.
The park was named in honor of Rudy Campbell, Tempe's first directly elected mayor. Campbell, born in Oklahoma, moved to Arizona with his family as migrant farm workers. After serving in World War II, he returned to Arizona and began a career in banking. He served as a councilman from 1958-1962 and became Tempe's first directly elected Mayor in 1966.
Campbell Park offers a variety of outdoor amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features open green spaces, providing a serene environment for relaxation and recreational activities. It includes playground equipment for children, making it a family-friendly destination.
