David D Terry Park

David D. Terry Park is located on the Arkansas River, straddling the eastern and western city limits of Little Rock, Arkansas. The park is part of the David D. Terry Lock and Dam system, also known as Pool 6, which was completed in 1971 as part of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation project.

The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. It features five distinct recreational areas, providing visitors with access to old river cutoffs and tailwaters of the dam, which are popular spots for fishing. The Arkansas River floodwaters in this area also attract waterfowl, making it an excellent location for duck hunting during the appropriate seasons.

Situated in a forested area along the riverfront, David D. Terry Park is close to rolling fields of cotton farms. The park sits at an elevation of 193 feet above sea level. The climate is generally mild in winter, while summers can be hot and humid with temperatures reaching the upper 90s.

Wildlife is abundant in the park, with red foxes frequently spotted, along with deer and armadillos. Numerous species of waterfowl inhabit the water and shores, adding to the park's natural appeal.
