Allsopp Park

Allsopp Park is a 75-acre urban green space located in the Pulaski Heights community of northwestern Little Rock, Arkansas. Situated within a wooded ravine, the park offers a blend of developed recreational facilities and natural, undeveloped open spaces.

The park's history dates back to 1927 when the City of Little Rock purchased two ravines for park development. Frederick Allsopp, a prominent local resident and naturalist, played a significant role in the park's early planning, commissioning landscape architect John Nolen to create a master plan in 1931. While Nolen's original design was not fully implemented, the park today still embodies the spirit of his vision, integrating recreational amenities with natural surroundings.

Allsopp Park is divided into two distinct areas: a southern portion and a northern portion. The southern section is more developed, featuring various recreational facilities, while the northern area is primarily maintained as undeveloped woodland. This division provides visitors with a diverse range of experiences, from active recreation to peaceful nature walks.

The park is a popular destination for local residents, particularly those from the surrounding Hillcrest and Riverdale neighborhoods. It offers a network of trails that wind through the wooded areas, appealing to hikers, joggers, and mountain bikers.
