Murray Park

Murray Park is a large urban park located in Little Rock, Arkansas, spanning 166 acres along the Arkansas River. The park was developed in 1976 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at a cost of approximately 2.25 million dollars. The site, situated immediately downstream from Murray Lock and Dam, is leased to the City of Little Rock by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The park offers visitors a scenic riverside setting with various recreational opportunities. It features a network of walking and biking trails that wind along the Arkansas River, providing beautiful views and exercise options. The Arkansas River Trail, which runs through the park, connects to other parts of the city and is popular among cyclists, joggers, and walkers.

Murray Park caters to diverse interests and age groups. It includes multiple sports facilities, picnic areas, and open spaces for relaxation and outdoor activities. The park is also known for its dog-friendly areas, including a dedicated off-leash dog park called Paws Park, which provides separate enclosed areas for large and small dogs.

Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy access to the Arkansas River, with the park offering a boat ramp for those wishing to venture out onto the water. The park's location provides excellent views of the river and serves as a picturesque spot for nature observation and photography.

In 2023, Murray Park faced challenges when a catastrophic tornado struck Little Rock on March 31, causing significant damage to the park and surrounding areas. Efforts to restore and replant trees in the park have been undertaken to help recover from this natural disaster.
