About Heller Park in Costa Mesa

Heller Park is a community park located in Costa Mesa, California. The park opened in 1969 and was named after Charles "Chuck" Heller, who served as Costa Mesa's first Superintendent of Streets (Public Works Director).

Spanning 2.6 acres, Heller Park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors. The park features open green spaces, providing a pleasant environment for relaxation and outdoor activities. It includes a playground area where children can enjoy themselves, making it a popular spot for families.

The land for Heller Park was originally secured by Costa Mesa as a maintenance yard at no charge through an inter-agency land swap with the Costa Mesa County Water District. Interestingly, it was Chuck Heller himself who proposed the idea of transforming the land into a city park, contributing to the recreational spaces available to Costa Mesa residents.
