About Admiral Kidd Park in Long Beach

Admiral Kidd Park is a 12.29-acre public park located on the west side of Santa Fe Avenue, between Hill and Willard Streets in Long Beach, California. The park was established in 1941 and named after Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, who was killed in action at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

The park has undergone several expansions and renovations over the years. In 2004, it was expanded to include a new soccer field, game courts, and parking lot. In 2007, the 4,500 square foot Juanita Millender-McDonald Community Center was opened, providing space for recreational programming and community events.

Admiral Kidd Park features a nautical-themed playground, which was rebuilt and reopened in August 2023 after being destroyed by a fire in July 2021. The new playground includes unique elements such as a zipline, a "sway fun" swing, and plenty of shade structures. The play area is designed to be accessible for children of all abilities.

The park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. It includes basketball courts, soccer fields, and a fitness zone for outdoor exercise. The community center provides additional indoor space for activities and programs.

Admiral Kidd Park serves as an important green space and recreational hub for the West Long Beach community. It offers residents a place to engage in physical activities, enjoy nature, and participate in community events.
