About Loma Vista Park in Long Beach
Loma Vista Park is a small passive park located in Long Beach, California. Opened on September 24, 2005, this 0.14-acre green space provides a welcome respite for the local neighborhood. The park was established on land provided by the Los Angeles County Sanitation District, designed to offer a tranquil area for passive recreation.
The park features a lawn area, trees, and a custom bench with artistic elements, creating a pleasant environment for visitors. In 2007, the Arts Council of Long Beach enhanced the park's aesthetic appeal by adding a mosaic of the sun and solar system. This artistic installation was designed by artist Steve Elicker in collaboration with students from nearby Edison Elementary School, adding an educational and visually interesting element to the park.
In 2014, Loma Vista Park received further improvements with the addition of a new play structure and a rubberized tot lot surface. These enhancements made the park more appealing and functional for young families in the area.
Despite its small size, Loma Vista Park serves as an important open space in the urban landscape of Long Beach, offering residents a place to relax, play, and enjoy nature within their community.
