About Bluff Park in Long Beach
Bluff Park is a scenic 25.8-acre linear park located along Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, California. The park sits atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, offering stunning views of the coastline, beach, and sea.
Stretching from 20th Place to 36th Place, Bluff Park provides a peaceful green space in an urban setting. The park features well-maintained grassy areas, palm trees, and walking paths that run along the length of the bluff. Many residents and visitors use the paths for jogging, strolling, or walking dogs while taking in the ocean vistas.
The park's elevated position creates natural updrafts, making it a popular spot for hobbyists to fly radio-controlled gliders. On clear days, Catalina Island can be seen in the distance. Bluff Park is also home to the Long Beach Museum of Art, housed in the historic Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house.
A notable feature is the Lone Sailor statue, installed in 2004 to honor Long Beach's naval heritage. The park provides a vantage point for watching boat activity in the harbor and serves as a prime location for viewing special events like the Fourth of July fireworks display over the ocean.
Bluff Park is bordered by some of Long Beach's most impressive historic homes, many dating back to the early 1900s. The park itself was designated as part of a historic district in 1982, recognizing its significance to the city's development and architectural heritage.
