About Marine Vista Park in Long Beach
Marina Vista Park is an 18.2-acre waterfront park in Long Beach, California. True to its name, the park overlooks the water, providing visitors with scenic views of Marine Stadium and Colorado Lagoon. The park's history dates back to 1923 when the site was purchased as part of a larger acquisition that included Marine Stadium and Recreation Park.
Development of Marina Vista Park began in 1982, with original facilities including a baseball field and a soccer field. Over the years, additional amenities have been added to enhance the park's offerings. In 1992, a freestanding restroom building was constructed. The Los Angeles County Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Act of 1992 funded night lighting for the baseball field and other improvements in 1994, including the backstop, dugouts, fencing, and landscaping.
In 1996, a bicycle path was added, connecting the park to the path along Boat House Lane leading to the rowing center and Jack Dunster Marine Preserve. The playground was installed in 1998, funded by the Los Angeles County Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Act of 1992 and community contributions. That same year, tennis courts were completed as part of the approval for the nearby Spinnaker Bay housing development.
Marina Vista Park, in combination with the northwest end of Marine Stadium, is a popular location for Municipal Band concerts. The park's diverse range of facilities and its picturesque setting make it a favored destination for both sports enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful outdoor experience.
