About Orange Grove Park in Pasadena
Orange Grove Park is a 2.5-acre rectangular-shaped park located at Mission Street and Orange Grove Avenue in South Pasadena, California. As one of the city's older parks, the site has a rich history, having formerly been a beer garden and gaming house in 1886.
Today, Orange Grove Park serves as an active recreation area for the community. The park features a lighted softball and soccer field, providing space for organized sports and casual play. Additionally, there are two lighted tennis courts available for tennis enthusiasts.
For younger visitors, the park includes a small playground where children can enjoy outdoor activities. The park also houses a two-story 9,500 square foot recreation building. The first floor of this building is utilized for recreation and day care programs, while the second floor serves as meeting space.
Orange Grove Park offers various amenities to enhance visitors' experiences. These include drinking fountains, picnic tables, and bleachers for spectators attending sports events. The park also provides a bicycle rack for those who prefer to cycle to the location.
In recent years, the park has seen some updates. In 2024, the Arroyo Batting Cages, located just south of the little league fields, were renovated by the Becerra family, long-time supporters of the local South Pasadena Little League. This addition provides an opportunity for baseball and softball enthusiasts to practice their swings.
The park's location near a dog park and skate park adds to its appeal as a multi-faceted recreational area for the community.
