Seaside Wilderness Park

Seaside Wilderness Park is a unique natural area located in Ventura, California, adjacent to Emma Wood State Beach. The park encompasses the Ventura River mouth and the area historically known as the "Hobo Jungle." It offers visitors a diverse ecological experience with its mix of coastal and riparian habitats.

The park features two main trails: the 1.3-mile Ocean's Edge Trail and the 0.7-mile River's Edge Trail. The Ocean's Edge Trail traverses through a dense forest of willow, Southern California black walnut, cottonwood, and coast live oak before reaching the Ventura River Estuary. It then crosses railroad tracks and continues through sand dunes and marshes. The River's Edge Trail provides excellent opportunities for birdwatching.

Seaside Wilderness Park is known for its varied plant communities, including riparian, coastal sage scrub, and coastal strand ecosystems. This diversity of habitats supports a wide range of flora and fauna, making it an ideal location for nature enthusiasts and researchers.
