Veterans Memorial Park

Veterans Memorial Park in Washington, D.C. is a solemn and reflective space located on the National Mall. The park serves as a tribute to American veterans who have served in various conflicts throughout the nation's history.

The centerpiece of the park is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, consisting of two black granite walls that form a "V" shape. These walls are inscribed with the names of over 58,000 Americans who lost their lives or went missing during the Vietnam War. The reflective surface of the granite allows visitors to see their own reflection alongside the engraved names, creating a powerful visual connection between past and present.

Adjacent to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is the Korean War Veterans Memorial. This memorial features 19 stainless steel statues of soldiers in combat gear, representing a squad on patrol. A black granite wall nearby is etched with images of troops and equipment from the war.

The park also includes the Vietnam Women's Memorial, honoring the women who served during the Vietnam War, predominantly as nurses. This bronze sculpture depicts three women tending to a wounded soldier.
