West Ridge open space nature preserve

Westridge Park is a passive recreational area located in Davie, Florida. Situated on the west side of Nob Hill Road, this park offers visitors a serene natural environment to explore and enjoy. The park is part of the original Pine Island Ridge, which gives it a unique topographical feature in the otherwise flat landscape of South Florida.

Covering approximately 50 acres, Westridge Park boasts an elevation of 20 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest natural areas owned by the Town of Davie. This elevation provides visitors with a distinctive vantage point to observe the surrounding landscape.

The park is rich in both natural and historical significance. Archaeological evidence suggests that the southern tip of the park once served as a canoe landing for indigenous peoples who inhabited the area over 5,000 years ago. In more recent history, the site was cleared for cattle grazing in the 1950s. Since then, the Town of Davie has initiated a reforestation plan to restore some of the original tree canopy, enhancing the park's ecological value.

Westridge Park offers a network of trails suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. These paths wind through the park, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area and observe local flora and fauna. The trails provide an excellent opportunity for nature enthusiasts and casual visitors alike to experience the unique landscape and ancient beauty of this preserved natural area.
