About 1814 Brickell Park in Miami
Brickell Park is a pocket park located in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Designed by Enea Garden Design, this urban green space covers an area of approximately 35,650 square feet (3,312 square meters) and was completed in 2012 after a year of construction.
The park was conceived as a community gathering space catering to various user types in the upscale Brickell area, from business professionals to families with children. Central to its design is an elevated lawn flanked by an allee of Magnolia trees, providing a tranquil area for reading and relaxation. On either side of the central lawn, grassed areas offer spaces for a playground and open play.
A notable feature of Brickell Park is a 15-foot-high concrete and steel sculpture designed by artist Christian Bernard. This sculpture incorporates a piece from the ruins of the World Trade Center, serving as a 9/11 memorial. The monument was made possible through a donation from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, commissioned by Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff.
The park's development was supported by real estate developer Tibor Hollo and his wife Sheila, who donated $250,000 to acquire the parkland. This contribution highlights the importance of green spaces in the rapidly developing Brickell area, which generates a significant portion of the city's revenue.
Brickell Park features a mix of landscaped areas, paved paths, and recreational spaces. The entrance area is paved with light-colored concrete, inviting workers from the nearby business district to visit and relax. The park also includes a fenced-in children's play area, making it suitable for families.
