Perry Havery Senior Park

Perry Harvey Sr. Park is an 11-acre urban park located in downtown Tampa, Florida. The park, which opened in 2016 after extensive redevelopment, is situated at the edge of downtown in an area historically known as "The Scrub," where freed slaves settled after the Civil War.

The park is dedicated to honoring Tampa's rich African American history and culture. It features several art installations that tell the story of the local Black community from the post-Civil War era through the Civil Rights movement. One of the most notable features is the History Walk, which includes "Lifetiles" optical glass art by artist Rufus Butler Seder. These artworks depict faces of early Black leaders and residents, as well as scenes of historical life in Tampa.

Perry Harvey Sr. Park also incorporates recreational facilities alongside its historical elements. The park was designed to be a place for both reflection on history and active community engagement. It includes areas for various activities and events, making it a multifunctional space for Tampa residents and visitors.

The park is named after Perry Harvey Sr., a prominent civil rights leader and long-time head of the longshoreman's union in Tampa. A bronze statue of Harvey is featured in the park, along with other monuments celebrating local and national historical figures.

In addition to its historical and artistic elements, the park provides green spaces with lush vegetation, palm trees, and colorful flower beds, offering a serene environment within the urban landscape of Tampa.
