About Morgan Falls Overlook Park in Sandy Springs
Morgan Falls Overlook Park is a 30-acre riverside park located in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Opened in 2010, it was the first new park created by the City of Sandy Springs after its incorporation. The park offers scenic views of Bull Sluice Lake, a reservoir formed by the Morgan Falls Dam on the Chattahoochee River.
The park features a mix of natural and recreational amenities. A 0.7-mile loop hiking trail winds through the wooded areas, providing opportunities for exercise and nature observation. The trail offers views of the lake and surrounding landscape. For water enthusiasts, there is a boat dock where visitors can launch kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards. During warmer months, High Country Outfitters operates a seasonal paddle shack, offering watercraft rentals for those who want to explore Bull Sluice Lake.
Families with children can enjoy the large playground area, which includes wheelchair-friendly equipment. The park also provides several covered picnic pavilions and tables, making it an ideal spot for outdoor gatherings and meals. Porch swings overlooking the water offer a relaxing way to take in the views.
For those interested in local history, the park preserves a remnant of the area's past. Near a public fire pit stands the chimney of the Power Cabin, a relic from the early settlers of the region when the Chattahoochee River marked the western border of the United States.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset and offers free parking. Its location provides a tranquil natural setting while still being accessible from the Atlanta metropolitan area.
