About Hammond Park in Sandy Springs
Hammond Park is a 13.708-acre community park located in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The park offers a variety of recreational facilities and amenities for visitors of all ages.
The park is home to the Hammond Park Gymnastics Center, which can be accessed from the Hammond Drive parking lot. For those interested in outdoor activities, the park features a newly turfed multi-purpose athletic field with lights and bleachers, suitable for sports such as soccer and lacrosse.
Hammond Park boasts two fenced-in full-sized basketball courts with lights, as well as four lighted tennis courts. Pickleball enthusiasts can enjoy playing on overlays on the tennis courts and one of the basketball courts.
For families with children, the park offers two playgrounds. The toddler playground, designed for ages 2-5, includes multiple slides, swings, and climbing structures on a rubber surface. It is partially shaded by nearby trees and features a fully gated play area. The second playground, suitable for ages 2-12, has wood chips as ground cover and includes multiple slides and climbing structures.
The park also provides two picnic pavilions. The large pavilion, located next to the community building, and the small pavilion, situated near the upper playground, both come equipped with lights, outlets, picnic tables, and grills.
Visitors can make use of the Hammond Park Community Building, which can be reserved for events and accommodates up to 50 people. The building includes bathrooms, a kitchenette, tables, and chairs.
For added convenience, the park offers two parking lots. The lot on Hammond Drive provides approximately 150 spaces, while the Glenridge Drive entrance lot has about 30 spaces. Both lots include handicap parking. Restrooms and a water fountain are located near the basketball courts.
