About Abernathy Greenway in Sandy Springs

Abernathy Greenway Park North is a 6.6-acre linear park located along Abernathy Road in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The park opened in 2014 as part of the city's efforts to provide more green spaces and recreational areas for residents.

The park's most notable feature is its Playable Art Park, which contains six large sculptural play structures designed by artists from around the world. These unique installations blend art with functionality, allowing children to climb, explore, and interact with the sculptures in creative ways. The playable art pieces include "It's You & Me, Kid," a laser-cut granite boulder; "Spider Walk," a climbable spider-like structure; and "Wonder Wall," a mosaic of kiln-dried glass that stimulates curiosity and interaction.

In addition to the play structures, Abernathy Greenway Park North offers walking paths, open green spaces, and seating areas for visitors to enjoy. The park's linear design makes it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls or as a connection point between different parts of the neighborhood.

The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing residents and visitors ample time to enjoy its amenities throughout the day. While the play structures offer limited shade, the park does feature some trees along its perimeter.
