About Molenaar Park in Boise
Molenaar Park is a 20-acre public park in Boise, Idaho. Situated between Victory and Targee Streets near Maple Grove Road, this park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages.
The park features a perimeter walking path that allows visitors to enjoy a stroll or jog around the grounds. For families with children, there is a playground equipped with modern play structures. Skateboarding enthusiasts can take advantage of the park's skate park, which provides various features for different skill levels.
Molenaar Park includes a fenced off-leash dog area, opened in July 2020, providing a safe space for pets to exercise and socialize. The dog park is nearly an acre in size and is fully enclosed, with a separate area for shy dogs. It includes amenities such as grass, trees, mutt-mitts, picnic tables, and water fountains for both humans and dogs.
The park also boasts a pond, which serves as a focal point and adds to the natural beauty of the area. During warmer months, visitors can enjoy the splash pad, which offers various water features for children to play in. Sports enthusiasts can make use of the open play areas and sports fields.
For visitor convenience, Molenaar Park provides restroom facilities and a non-reservable shelter. The park is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring bonded rubber surfacing on the playground for mobility device users and inclusive play equipment such as We Go Round™ and Double Oodle® Swings.
The City of Boise has development plans for the park, with funding expected to be available in 2024 for further enhancements.
