About Winstead Park in Boise

Winstead Park is an 11-acre public park located on the Boise Bench in Boise, Idaho. The park provides a variety of recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors.

The park features open grassy areas that are frequently used by sports teams for practices and informal games. A walking path circles the park, offering a pleasant route for exercise and leisurely strolls.

Winstead Park includes a playground area with equipment suitable for children ages 2-12. The playground surface is made of wood chips for safety. There is also a swing set for kids to enjoy.

For gatherings and events, the park offers a reservable covered picnic shelter. This shelter provides a shaded space for picnics, parties, and community activities. Tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with one court required to remain open for public use at all times.

Dog owners can take advantage of designated off-leash hours in certain areas of the park. However, dogs must be leashed in other parts of the park and during non-off-leash hours.

The City of Boise purchased the property for Winstead Park in 1965. Today, it serves as a popular neighborhood park, providing green space and recreational amenities for the surrounding community.
