Weisser Park, located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a 20-acre Legacy Park with a history dating back to 1909. Initially purchased from Magdalena Weisser for approximately $10,000, the park began as a 15-acre space and later expanded. Known for its natural wooded beauty, Weisser Park has retained much of its original charm with minimal artificial enhancements. It is a well-maintained public space that operates daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and offers a variety of facilities and activities for visitors of all ages.
The park boasts a range of recreational options. It features ball diamonds, basketball courts, a playground with slides and swings, and two outdoor tennis courts. A recently introduced nine-hole disc golf course, designed with input from local elementary students, caters to players of all levels. Visitors can also enjoy open green spaces and picnic areas, making it an excellent destination for both relaxation and active pursuits.
A major highlight of the park is the Weisser Park Recreation Center, a 14,000-square-foot facility that supports youth and community programs. This center includes a computer lab, arts and crafts room, study center, and a weight training area, among other amenities. It also hosts a multi-purpose performing arts room with stage seating for over 300 people.
