Capitol Park

Capitol Park, located in downtown Detroit, Michigan, is a historic triangular green space bounded by Shelby, Griswold, and State Streets. The park has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century and is a notable landmark within the Capitol Park Historic District. Originally established to house Michigan’s first state capitol building, the area transitioned into a park in the late 19th century after the capitol and subsequent high school occupying the site were destroyed by fire.
